Houston Drops Pitcher’s Duel at McNeese

Grayson Padgett goes 2-for-3; Sean Bretz strikes out six out of bullpen
LAKE CHARLES, La. -- The University of Houston Baseball team fell to McNeese, 1-0, on Tuesday night at Miller Ballpark.
With the decision, the Cougars move to 10-9 on the season, while the Cowboys improve to 13-8 and sweep the home-and-home series.
KEY INNINGS
1st | McNeese scored the lone run of the game behind a bases-loaded fielder's choice in the bottom of the first inning.
HOUSTON NOTES
Offense:
• Senior center fielder Grayson Padgett went 2-for-3 with a leadoff double to open the game.
Pitching:
• Sophomore southpaw Clay Aguiliar (1-2) took the loss, surrendering the lone run of the game. Aguilar gave up three hits, walked two and struck out three across four innings in the start.
• Junior Sean Bretz closed the game with four no-hit innings. He worked around two walks and recorded a career-high six strikeouts.
ON DECK
After four games on the road, Houston returns to Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park to host UConn in its American Athletic Conference opener.
The series serves as "Bark at the Park Weekend" at the ballpark.
Any kid that wears their baseball uniform on Friday will get free admission, while parents can buy tickets for $3.PARKING IN 2019
Gameday parking is offered in a different capacity than in prior years. Anyone entering Lot 16B (across the street from right field) will be subjected to paying a third party company employed by campus. This lot will no longer be an option for free parking on gamedays. All other lots surrounding the stadium will be free of charge two hours prior to first pitch.
