Houston Faces Texas State on Wednesday

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Men's Basketball program returns to action when it plays host to Texas State at 7 p.m., Wednesday, inside the Fertitta Center.

The Cougars (3-2) enter this week's game following a 112-73 win over Houston Baptist on Nov. 26 inside the Fertitta Center. It was the team's biggest win of the young season and was the fourth-most points scored in American Athletic Conference history.

Sophomore guard Nate Hinton posted 24 points with 15 rebounds to set career highs in both categories and record the third double-double of his career. He was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for his performance.

Freshman guard Marcus Sasser finished with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting against the Huskies. He became only the second freshman in school history to drain 6+ 3-pointers in a game and the first since Lamar Roberson in the 2005-06 season opener.

GAME PROMOTIONS
For Wednesday's game, the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a free For the City laptop sticker.

Fans also will be able to take photos with Shasta Claus on the Fertitta Center concourse for Wednesday's game and for all Houston Men's and Women's Basketball games through Dec. 19.

BUY TICKETS
Regular-season single-game tickets for the University of Houston Men's Basketball program's 2019-20 season are on sale now, and fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets soon before all are gone.

Fans can purchase single-game tickets at the Houston Athletics Ticket Office during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, and any time at uhcougars.com/tickets.

Fans who were unable to purchase season tickets can get a head start for the 2020-21 season by placing their names on the Priority Waiting List for only a $50 deposit. To reserve places on the Priority Waiting List, fans can register by clicking here and follow the appropriate links from the right column.

SERIES vs. TEXAS STATE
• Houston owns a 12-2 lead in the series against Texas State.
• Wednesday's game will be the first meeting since the 2013-14 season opener on Nov. 8, 2013, inside Hofheinz Pavilion.
• Cougars have won the last two meetings... Teams have split the last four contests.
• Series dates back to Feb. 2, 1946, when the Cougars claimed a 62-57 win in Houston.
at Home: Houston has posted an 8-0 record against Texas State at home.
• Cougars have enjoyed success against the Bobcats at home, winning by an average of 14.8 points per game (118 points in 8 games).
• Wednesday's game will be the first time the Cougars face the Bobcats in Houston since a 76-70 UH victory on Nov. 8, 2013, inside Hofheinz Pavilion.

• Texas State has posted a 6-2 record in 2019-20.
• Texas State is 1-2 when playing on the road this season.
• In its most recent action, Texas State claimed a 69-55 win over Hartford on Saturday in San Marcos, Texas.
• Against Hartford, senior guard Nijal Pearson posted 15 points to lead the Bobcats and added four rebounds and three assists... Sophomore forward Alonzo Sule came off the bench to score 14 points and led all players with 14 rebounds, while sophomore guard Mason Harrell added 12 points with two rebounds and two steals in the win.
• This season, Pearson leads the Bobcats with 18.1 points per game... Harrell ranks second with 10.2 points and 2.8 assists per contest... Junior forward Isiah Small tops the team with 8.3 rebounds per game, while senior forward Chandler Davis leads with 3.5 assists per game.

• Kaspar has compiled 569-293 record in his career and is 104-100 record at Texas State.... Previously built a 219-52 record at UIW (1991-98) and was 246-141 at Stephen F. Austin (2000-13).
• Kaspar is 0-1 against Houston during his career.
• Wednesday's game will be the first time Kaspar has faced Houston Head Coach Kelvin Sampson.
