Cougars open home slate against Southeastern Louisiana
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program will open its 2019-20 home slate on Saturday at the Fertitta Center against Southeastern Louisiana. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.

THE COUGAR FASTBREAK
• Houston enters Saturday's game leading the overall series against the Lions 7-0 after defeating them in Houston during the 2016-17 season in a 83-80 decision.
• Houston's Tatyana Hill paces the squad in points per game with 10.0 per contest, while Jasmyne Harris is second on the team with 7.0 points per night.
• Houston left off last season averaging 68.2 points per game on 39.9 percent shooting from the field and a 29.8 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. In 2018-19 the Cougars allow 68.5 points per game on defense while letting opponents shoot 41.9 percent and 31.1 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.
• Hill also leads Houston on the glass, pulling down 6 rebounds in Houston's season opener at Georgia Tech and was a force defensively with a career-high four steals.
• Under Coach Hughey, Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country over the past two seasons. The Cougars ranked 64th nationally in steals (293) and 51st in steals per game (9.5) and 32nd in turnovers forced (19.61) last season and forced 23 Yellow Jacket turnovers, along with snagging 11 steals.

• SLU enters Saturday's contest with an 0-0 overall record. The Lions defeated Southern New Orleans in exhibition, 103-47.
• SLU concluded the 2018-19 season with a 9-20 overall record and 4-4 record in the Southland.
• Southeastern Louisiana enters its third season under Head Coach Ayla Guzzardo and return All-Southland performance Celica Sterling who scored 17 points in exhibition.
• Alexius Horne leads SLU in assist with five in exhibition, while Hailey Giaratano grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
