Houston Heads to Florida for Weekend Dual

Cougars head to Florida to face CCSA Conference Champions
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving program will head to Florida for a weekend dual against Florida Gulf Coast Nov. 1-2 at the FGCU Aquatics Complex.

Houston will open action on Friday at 4 p.m. and continue on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. to wrap up the two-day meet.

The Cougars enter the meet unblemished in dual-meet action and coming off a convincing win over conference foe SMU last weekend. Zarena Brown is fresh off of earning her first American Athletic Conference Weekly award of the season, earning conference swimmer of the week accolades for her trio of first-place finishes against SMU.

The meet will mark the first time the Cougars have faced FGCU in program history.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Florida Gulf Coast is coming off a sweep of the CCSA weekly awards as Petra Halmai and Reese Wakefield were named swimmer and diver of the week. The Eagles most recently defeated Vanderbilt for its first win over an SEC opponent.

Halmai holds the fifth-fastest time in the country in the 200 Breaststroke (2:11.36) and the 12th-fastest time nationally in the 100 Breaststroke (1:01.18)

FGCU, much like Houston has led its conference in recent years with four consecutive CCSA titles.

UP NEXT
Houston will return home to the Campus Recreation & Wellness center to prepare for the Phill Hansel Invitational Nov. 21-23 at the CRWC.
