Cougars take on in-state rival in hopes to clinch slot in conference tournament
HOUSTON – Houston will close out its regular season when it heads to Dallas to take on in-state foe SMU in a Halloween matchup, Thursday at 7 p.m. CT.
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
- SMU is entering its eighth season under Head Coach Chris Petrucelli.
- The Mustangs closed out their 2018 slate with a 10-6-2 overall record, including a 5-4-0 fifth place finish in American Athletic Conference play.
- SMU returns 22 members, including eight starters, of the 2018-19 team and welcomes four newcomers this season.
OTHER NOTABLES
- Houston is currently tied with SMU for fifth in the American Athletic Conference standings, with nine points.
- The Cougars are 6-12-0 overall, including 3-5-0 in conference play.
- Desiree Bowen leads Houston in assists, goals and points, with 12 points off of four goals and four assists.
- Captain Mia Brascia leads the team in shots, tallying 35 shots with 16 on goal.
- Samantha Cude leads the Cougars with 43 saves and four shutouts on the season.
