Houston, which has won its first 15 games to open the season and is one of only three undefeated teams remaining in the nation, enters Wednesday's game on the heels of a 90-77 win over Memphis on Sunday inside the Fertitta Center.
Junior guard Armoni Brooks led the Cougars with 22 points for his fifth 20-point game of the season. The Round Rock, Texas, native buried 6-of-11 3-point attempts and grabbed six rebounds in the win.
Guard Nate Hinton posted career highs with 19 points and nine rebounds and was honored earlier this week as The American's Freshman of the Week.
The Cougars, who are ranked No. 15 in the latest USA TODAY Coaches poll, No. 17 in the most recent Associated Press and at No. 4 in the NCAA NET rankings, stand among the nation's Top-10 leaders in multiple defensive categories, including opponents' field goal percentage (36.2, 2nd), opponents' 3-point field goal percentage (26.4 , 5th) and scoring defense (59.2 ppg, 7th).
This season, senior guard Corey Davis Jr. leads the Cougars with 15.5 points per game and ranks second nationally by hitting 95.0 percent of his free throws.
Brooks stands second among the Cougars with 14.9 points per game but leads the team with 7.3 rebounds per contest. He is one of only three players to rank among the American Athletic Conference's Top-13 leaders in both scoring and rebounding, joining Jayden Gardner (ECU) and Kyvon Davenport (Memphis).

• Temple has posted an 11-3 record in 2018-19 with a 1-1 mark in American Athletic Conference play.
• Owls are tied for fourth in the league with Cincinnati, USF, Tulsa and Memphis.
• Temple is 5-0 in home games this season.
• Temple has won four of its last five games with two of those in overtime, including an 85-81 overtime victory at Wichita State on Sunday in its most recent action.
• Against Wichita State, Owls overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to force overtime and outscored the Shockers by four in the extra period inside Charles Koch Arena.
• Against the Shockers, guard senior Shizz Alston Jr led Temple with 22 points and added three assists with two rebounds and two steals, while sophomore guard Nate Pierre Louis finished with 21 points and tied with senior center Ernest Aflakpui for team-high honors with eight rebounds... Junior guard Quinton Rose totaled 17 points with a game-high five assists.
• This season, Alston leads the Owls and The American with 19.4 points per game and tops Temple with 5.1 assists per contest... Rose stands second with 16.4 points per game, while Pierre-Louis ranks third with 13.2 points per game... Aflakpui tops the Owls with 6.9 rebounds per game.
• Head Coach Fran Dunphy is in his 13th season at Temple and his 30th year as a collegiate head coach… Has compiled a 568-318 record during his career as a collegiate head coach and is 258-155 at Temple.
• Previously built a 310-163 record at Penn (1989-06).
• Dunphy is 2-6 against Houston during his career with all eight previous meetings coming during his Temple tenure.
• Dunphy has posted a 2-4 record against Houston Head Coach Kelvin Sampson during their careers with all six previous meetings coming during his Temple tenure.

The Cougars faced Memphis on Jan. 6 in their annual Fight for Literacy Game. However, fans can still support the Cougars and donate to literacy programs in the Houston area.

• Following Wednesday's game, the Cougars return to the Fertitta Center to take on Wichita State at 7 p.m., Saturday... That game will be part of a doubleheader with Houston Women's Basketball, which takes on Temple at 2 p.m., Saturday.
• From there, Houston returns to the road to take on SMU at 8 p.m., Jan. 16, in Dallas.
