Houston to Face UCF in Mid-Week Meeting

Cougars set to face Knights in game airing on ESPN3
HOUSTON – The Houston Cougar Women's Basketball team returns will return to the road for mid-week action against (rv) UCF on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at CFE Arena.
The game will be aired on ESPN3 and fans can hear the contest against the Golden Hurricane live via the home for Houston Women's Basketball Radio, UHCougars.com/wbbradio. Live statistics are also available through SideArm Stats, and the official Twitter account of Houston Women's Basketball, @UHCougarWBB, will offer updates throughout the game.

Here are five names, numbers, news items and storylines you need to know about Saturday's American Athletic Conference game against Tulsa:
A GAME OF NUMBERS – The Cougars are averaging 72.1 points per game and UCF has allowed opponents a mere 54.8 points per game. The Knights are 0-2 when opponents score over 70 points.
CLEANING THE GLASS – Senior forward Serithia Hawkins has maintained a presence in the paint for Houston. Hawkins is averaging 7.5 boards per game and is on to pace to become only the third Cougar with 900+ rebounds.
FROM DOWNTOWN – The Cougars continue to be a 3-point threat under Hughey. After setting the school record for 3-pointers made in each of the last two seasons, Houston has made 137 triples so far in 2018-19.
THUNDER DOWN UNDER – Junior Julia Blackshell-Fair has had a hot hand for the Cougars as of late and has scored in double figures in three straight games and is averaging 9.2 ppg., over the last five. Houston has become a threat in the paint, outscoring its opponents downlow in three of its last five contest.
H-TOWN LOCKDOWN – Houston continues to play lockdown defense this season. The Cougars have forced at least 15 turnovers in 18 of its 19 games and their 21.74 forced per game ranks 16th nationally.
SERIES vs. UCF
Saturday's meeting will be the 18th all-time in the series against the Knights. UCF has won the last four meetings between the two, most recently a 59-64 victory in Houston last season.
ABOUT THE COUGARS
Houston enters Saturday's contest with a 10-9 overall record and a 4-2 mark in American Athletic Conference play after defeating Tulsa Saturday afternoon in a 76-44 decision.
Houston has a pair of playesr averaging double figures is junior guard Jasmyne Harris whose 16.2 points per game paces the team. Angela Harris ranks second on the team with 10.4 points per game while Serithia Hawkins comes in at a close third with 9.2.
Houston is averaging 72.1 points per game on 40.1 percent shooting from the field and a 28.7 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars allow 69.3 points per game on defense while letting opponents shoot 41.7 percent and 28.7 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.
Serithia Hawkins leads Houston on the glass, pulling down 7.5 rebounds per game. She recently became the sixth Cougar in program history to score 1,000 points and pull down 800 rebounds.
Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country this season. The Cougars rank third in The American in steals (192), and second in steals per game (11.0) and turnovers forced per game (21.79). The Cougars' steal numbers rank 23rd and 25th in the nation, respectively, while the turnovers forced average places them 16th in the NCAA.
