Cougars begin season against Incarnate Word and UT Permian Basin
HOUSTON – The two-time American Athletic Conference Champion Houston Swimming & Diving team will open its 2018-19 season Saturday morning at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center against Incarnate Word and UT Permian Basin.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
- Houston is entering its fourth season under Head Coach Ryan Wochomurka
- The Cougars are looking to defend their second consecutive American Athletic Conference title.
- Houston returns 13 all-conference honorees from last season's squad and four individual champions from last season's conference meet (Lauren Burrell, Zarena Brown, Peyton Kondis, Eleanna Koutsouveli).
- The Cougars welcomed in a nine-person signing class this season that are primed to make an impact.
- Houston closed out last season receiving five votes in the CSCAA / TYR Poll, after sending Ksenia Yuskova, Brown, and Kondis to the 2018 NCAA Championships.Â
- Incarnate Word is in its 13th year under Head Coach Phillip Davis.
- The Cardinals finished fifth-overall at the CCSA Championships last season with 767.5 points.
- Last season, Houston defeated Incarnate Word at UIW in a 182-110 decision.
- Houston posted 38 podium finishes, winning 11 of 16 events.
- Houston leads the all-time series history with UIW 5-1.
- UTPB opened its 2018-19 season at TCU this past weekend, falling to the Horned Frogs.
- The Falcons are in their fifth season under Head Coach Cameron Kainer.
- Last season, UTPB finished fifth at the NSISC Championships with 217 points.
- The Cougars have never faced UT Permian Basin.Â
