Cougars fall 2-1 in second straight overtime match
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Houston soccer team fell just short in a 2-1 double-overtime loss to Colorado College on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cougars will return home to the Carl Lewis Complex where they will open play in the American Athletic Conference. Houston will host UConn on Sept. 20 and Temple on Sept. 23.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In its fourth overtime match in six outings and second overtime match in a row, the Cougars fell behind early after a goal found the back of the net for Colorado College inside the 13th minute.
- With a mere two seconds left in the opening frame, Natalie Anderson lined up for a Houston corner kick that would be headed in by a Colorado College defender. Both teams would go into the break tied 1-1.
- Both teams battled back-and-forth for the remaining 45 minutes of regulation. Colorado College out shot the Cougars 14-4 in the second frame, but sound defense from Houston resulted in extra time.
- Inside the 101st minute Colorado College lined up for a corner kick, a header would find its way behind Samantha Cude and end the game.
- For only the second time this season, Houston was out shot by more than three shots. The Tigers out shot the Cougars 27-10.
- Amy Nguyen led Houston in shots with two, one of which was on-target.
- Cude snagged a season-high nine saves, two shy from her career-best 11 and her most in a Houston uniform.Â
- Houston is now 4-5-1 overall this season and 1-5-1 on the road.
- This match marks the fourth in its last six matches that the Cougars have went to extra time.
- This match marks the ninth time in program history that Houston had played in back-to-back overtime contest.
- Houston is 1-2-1 in overtime matches this season and 1-4-2 in overtime matches under Head Coach Diego Bocanegra.
- Colorado College leads the all-time series with Houston 1-8-0
- Anderson has played a part in the last two goals that Houston has posted
