Cougars fall to California Baptist in 2-1 overtime decision
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A late goal was not enough for Houston in a 2-1 loss to California Baptist in overtime at the Lancer Soccer Field Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Houston will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 2 against UC Riverside. Match is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. Central Time.

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS
The Houston Soccer program is excited to celebrate 20 years of Houston soccer this season. The team unveiled a logo on June 14 that represents 20 years of Houston soccer. The logo is featured on one of the three uniforms that the Cougars will wear throughout the season.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- California Baptist got out to an early advantage, scoring inside the 23rd minute.
- The 1-0 advantage by the Lancers would hold until the 89th frame when Mia Brascia lined up for a free kick. Following the kick, Jazmin Grant would scramble through traffic for her second goal of the season and the tying goal to send the game into overtime.
- At the 96 minute mark CBU would score on a ball kicked from the right side and finishing on the far right post.
- Amy Nguyen, Desiree Bowen and Jazmin Grant each recorded two shots. Both Nguyen and Grant recorded two SOG.
- Rachel Estopare recorded a season-high six saves.
- This is the third overtime match under Head Coach Diego Bocanegra.
- Houston falls to 2-3-0 on the season.
- Houston is 1-3 on the road this season.
- Jazmin Grant now has two goals this season in only 112 minutes.
- California Baptist leads the all-time series 1-0-0

During its Sept. 9 match against McNeese State the Houston Soccer team will be holding a silent auction featuring special guest Olympic Medalist and World Cup Champion Shannon Boxx. All proceeds will benefit the Lupus Foundation of America – Texas Galveston.
