Cougars drop match to Highlanders in 1-0 decision
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A goal in the 84th frame proved to be too much for the Cougars to overcome in a 1-0 loss to UC Riverside Sunday evening at the UCR Soccer Field.

The Houston Soccer program is excited to celebrate 20 years of Houston soccer this season. The team unveiled a logo on June 14 that represents 20 years of Houston soccer. The logo is featured on one of the three uniforms that the Cougars will wear throughout the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UC Riverside came out strong, notching four SOG in the opening 10 minutes of action
- Houston was unable to find a rhythm on offense, recording two shots throughout the game both coming in the second half.
- Samantha Cude got the nod for the Cougars, making her first start.
- Cude recorded five saves, tying the 2018 season-high for Houston goalkeepers.
OTHER NOTABLES
- Houston is now 2-4 overall this season and 1-4 on the road
- This was the first time this season that Houston went into halftime tied 0-0 with an opponent.
- This is the first time this season that Houston was held to fewer than 10 shots.

During its Sept. 9 match against McNeese State the Houston Soccer team will be holding a silent auction featuring special guest Olympic Medalist and World Cup Champion Shannon Boxx. All proceeds will benefit the Lupus Foundation of America – Texas Gulf Coast.
