Houston Splits Squad for Weekend Events

Swimmers head to Rice, while divers remain at the CRWC for Fall Invite
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team will spread out over Houston, sending its swimming personnel to Rice for the Rice Fall Invitational and hosting the Houston Diving Invitational at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Oct. 12-13.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
- Houston is coming off of a narrow 151.50 -148.50 victory at Tulane this past weekend in its first dual meet of the season.
- Houston posted 26 podium finishes and won both diving events to remain undefeated against Tulane.
- Zarena Brown posted a trio of individual first-place finishes and helped Houston win the 4 x 100 Freestyle Relay, earning American Swimmer of the Week honors for the second time in her career.
- Houston is currently 25th in the Collegeswimming.com Dual Rankings.
- Rice leads the all-time series with Houston 22-28 even though the Cougars defeated the Owls twice last season.
- Houston has never met Air Force in Dual Meet action, but the Falcons visited the CRWC last season for the Phill Hansel Invitational where they finished fifth.
- Houston faced off with Incarnate Word in its season opener at the end of Sept. defeating the Cardinals 198-98. The Cougars leads the all-time series between the two schools, 5-1.
- Rice is in its 16th year under Head coach Seth Huston.
- Last season the Owls finished second at both the Conference USA Championships and the CSCAA National Invitational, sending one swimmer to the NCAA Championships.
- Rice opened its season at the CSCAA Collegiate National Open Water Championships in Kansas finishing second-overall with three Owls finishing in the top-nine.Â
- Incarnate Word is in its 13th season under Head Coach Phillip Davis.
- UIW finished fifth at the CCSA Championships at the end of last season.
- Earlier this season, Houston defeated the Cardinals 198-98 at the CRWC.
- Air Force is in its second season under Head Coach Colleen Murphy
- So far this season Air Force has finished second at the Horsetooth Open Water Swim, and fifth at the Fresno State Chick-Fil-A Invite.
- Last season Air Force finished fifth at the Phill Hansel Invitational, closing out its season with a ninth-place finish at the Mountain West Championships.Â
