Houston Shuts Out Incarnate Word, 2-0

SAN ANTONIO - Sophomore Desiree Bowen and Junior Selena Peters, scored to lead Houston to a 2-0 victory over Incarnate Word on Friday night at Benson Stadium. With the win, the Cougars improve to 2-0 on the season and grabbed their first road win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Peters put the Cougars' first goal on the board in the 16th minute of play. Connecting with senior Tiffani Echeverria, the Houston native stuck the ball from the right side of the field into the left corner of the goal.
Bowen got Houston on the board early in the second half. With a cross from junior Margo McEntire, Bowen shot past the keeper to extend the Cougars' lead.
Each goal by Bowen and Peters were their first of the season. The duo lead the Cougars last season in goals scored.
SHE'S A KEEPER!
Goalkeeper Rachel Estopare saw all 90 minutes and finished with three saves. In her second appearance in the net for Houston, the Arizona transfer captured her second straight win and shutout of the season.
HELPING HANDS
McEntire's assist against Incarnate Word gave her two on the season. The Georgetown, Texas native's helping hand tied her with Peters to lead the team in assists. Echeverria's assist on Peters' goal is her first assist this season.
The Cougars now lead the series 2-0 against the Cardinals with 6 goals for and 0 against.

Cougars will travel to San Marcos, Texas to take on the Bobcats at 1 p.m., Sunday at the Bobcats Soccer Complex.
