Dauzat Honored by American Athletic Conference

HOUSTON - Junior midfielder Hannah Dauzat was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly Honor Roll after scoring a hat trick to lead the Cougars to a 3-0 victory against Texas Southern, the conference office announced Monday.
"This is great to see," Head Coach Chris Pfau said. "During the preseason, Hannah had been playing midfield, and a couple days before the game, we had some injuries to our forwards and had to move her upfront. For her not only to contribute but to get a hat trick shows how hard she works and how good she has become. "
Dauzat set the tone early for the Cougars. The Cypress, Texas, native scored her first goal of the night off an assist from junior Margo McEntire in the top right corner off the tips of the goalkeeper's hands in the fifth minute.
Picking up where she left off in the first half, Dauzat netted another goal, striking the center of the goal after an assist from teammate Selena Peters in the 51st minute. At the 64 minute mark Peters found Dauzat again for their second connection of the night, striking past the Tiger goalie to put the Cougars up 3-0.
Dauzat's three goals tied for second in program history, last occurring by Courtney Gaines against Texas Southern on Sept. 6, 2006.
This is the first weekly honor for Dauzat and the program's first for the 2016 season.
