PREVIEW: Volleyball Travels to Sawyer Camillo Memorial

HOUSTON -- Off a 2-1 season opener last weekend, the University of Houston Volleyball team is set to travel to Lafayette, La., for the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Cougars open the tournament Friday with one match against Nicholls State at 5 p.m. Houston returns to Earl K. Long Gym on Saturday to play Jackson State at 10 a.m. and host Louisiana-Lafayette at 4 p.m.

« Cougars started out the season with back-to-back wins on the opening day of the Texas Tech Fall Invitational last weekend.
« Freshman outside hitter Brookah Palmer led the Cougars with 63 kills in 11 sets, hitting .271, 31 digs and 68.5 points. She recorded back-to-back 20+ kill matches and tallied a career high of 26 kills against Texas Tech.
« Junior Hunter Wise was also one of the Cougars top hitters this weekend as she tallied 26 kills over 10 sets.
« Wise and Palmer were named to the Texas Tech Fall Invitational All-Tournament Team.
« Palmer was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first week of the 2015 season. O'Dell was selected to the honor roll.

Brookah Palmer
Freshman outside hitter Brookah Palmer has been a great six-rotation addition for the Cougars. In her first tournament at the collegiate level, Palmer tallied two 20+ kill matches. She posted a career best 26 kills against Texas Tech, becoming the 10th all-time for most kills in a four-set match.
Palmer was named the first Offensive Player of the Week for the 2015 season following her outstanding weekend.
Olivia O'Dell
Senior Olivia O'Dell has earned starts as the Cougars libero this season and has already made a name for herself in the records book.
O'Dell tallied career high digs in all three games played so far including her latest high of 28 digs vs. Texas Tech. She is now tied for 10th all-time for the most digs in a four-set match.
