Roberson joins Cougars after time with conference-rival TCU, LSU
HOUSTON – Standout middle-blocker Alexis Roberson signed with Houston Volleyball for the 2026 season, Head Coach David Rehr announced Monday.
"We excited to add an experienced Big 12 middle blocker to this roster," Rehr said. "Bringing Alexis back to her home city and having her play in front of her family and friends was important to everyone."
Â
Roberson arrives in Houston following a stellar two-year stretch at TCU, where she developed into one of the Horned Frogs' most reliable blockers. Last season, she appeared in all 32 matches, totaling 137 kills, a .330 hitting percentage and 84 blocks, which ranked third on the team. She posted at least five blocks in six matches and delivered several key performances, including six kills and six blocks against #5 Penn State and a .636 hitting percentage with eight kills against #19 UCLA.Â
Â
During her sophomore campaign in 2024, Roberson started all 30 matches and was one of three TCU players to compete in every set (113). She totaled 121 kills and 77 blocks while hitting .272, helping lead the Horned Frogs to a historic season that included the program's first-ever national ranking in the AVCA Coaches Poll and its first 20-win season since 2011. TCU also advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round for the third consecutive year.
Â
Across her two seasons in Fort Worth, Roberson led TCU to back-to-back 20-win campaigns and a program-record six ranked victories in 2025 while also helping the team reach its fourth straight NCAA Tournament in 2025.
Â
Prior to TCU, Roberson competed at LSU during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. She appeared in 50 sets over 14 matches in 2023, making 13 starts with 67 kills and 40 blocks. She averaged 0.80 blocks per set and recorded a season-high 10 kills against Mississippi State. Roberson redshirted her true freshman season in 2022.
A native of Missouri City, Texas, Roberson attended Ridge Point High School and played for both Ridge Point and Houston Juniors. A 2021 AVCA First Team All-American in 2021, she was the #92 overall recruit according to PrepVolleyball and helped lead her team to the 6A State Finals in 2019. She was a two-time District 20-6A selection (2019-20), a 2020 All-Vype First Team Selection and was named the 2021 John Turner Outstanding Hitter. With her club team, she won first place at the 2021 National USA Division and at the 2021 Show Me Qualifier USA Division.
