Gilbert Posts Career Day in Loss to Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. - Junior Tyler Gilbert recorded one of the best individual performances of her collegiate career on Saturday, though the University of Houston women's basketball team fell to the University of Tulsa, 74-52, in American Athletic Conference action. Gilbert finished with 16 points and reached a personal high with 13 rebounds.
Gilbert finished 7-for-13 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the free throw line. She snagged 10 rebounds on the defensive end alone and played 34 minutes, a team best.

The Cougars were down just seven points at halftime and were within 10 points, at 54-44, with 7:51 left to play. But Tulsa went on an 11-1 run to stretch the lead to 20 and secure the victory.
TOP PERFORMERS |
Houston: Gilbert's double-double is her second of the season, and she also tallied a block. Jessieka Palmer added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Tulsa: Kelsee Grovey paced all scorers with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Ashley Clark came off the bench to add 14 points.

- Tulsa finished the game shooting 48.3 percent (28-for-58) from the field and 39.1 percent (9-for-23) from 3-point territory.
- The Cougars shot 34.7 percent (17-for-49) overall and 23.5 percent (4-for-17) from the outside.
- Houston was 14-for-21 (66.7 percent) at the free throw line. Palmer led the way with eight points from the foul line.
- Freshman Mariah Mitchell knocked down two 3-pointers and scored eight points. Alecia Smith drained Houston's other pair of treys and scored six points.
- Demetria Foreman and Bianca Winslow led the Cougars with two assists each, and Winslow accounted for three steals.
- Tulsa led the game at halftime, 32-25.

- Gilbert now has a rejection in 16 of Houston's 17 games this season.
- The junior from Missouri City is now averaging 11.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in American play, tops on the club in both categories.
- Palmer has now scored in double-figures nine times this season, and Gilbert has done it five times, including three of Houston's last four games.
- Tulsa is now 11-6 all-time against Houston.
