Meet Soccer Head Coach Chris Pfau

Houston Soccer Head Coach Chris Pfau is in his first season with the Cougars in 2012-13.
Chris Pfau became the fourth head coach in University of Houston women's soccer history with his hiring in June 2012.
Pfau - whose name is pronounced Fow - joins the Cougars after spending the last four seasons at Akron. There, he helped lead the Zips to the 2009 MAC East Division championship and three straight Mid-American Conference Tournaments (2009-11).
He also has enjoyed coaching stints at Evansville (2005-06), Princeton (2003-05), Junior Irish Soccer Club (2002-03), St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Ind. (2002-03), Mount Mary College in Yankton, S.D. (1999-02), Cincinnati Riverhawks (1997-99) and Cincinnati United Soccer Club (1995-99).
A 1989 graduate of Old Dominion, he played professionally for 10 years in the APSL, NPSL and WSL. He began his coaching career while playing, serving as head coach of the Cincinnati United Soccer Club from 1995 to 1999 and as assistant coach of the Cincinnati Riverhawks of the A-League from 1997 to 1999.
He was a team captain, four-year starter and All-Region performer during his collegiate career at ODU and earned his bachelor's degree in hotel/restaurant management in 1989.
He and his wife Tracey have a daughter, Paige, and a son, Connor.

"I still like watching cartoons with my kids."
What was your favorite junior high musical group/artist?
"Iron Maiden"
Do you have a hidden talent?
"I have no hidden talent whatsoever."
What are your pre game rituals?
"Starbucks and hanging out with coaching staff"
If you could be famous for something other than coaching what would it be?
"Musician"
If you could coach any other sport, what sport would it be?
"Hockey is one of my favorite sports."
What is your favorite memory?
"The days that I had both of my kids... just an incredible feeling."
