HOUSTON - The University of Houston soccer program announced the 2011 signing class Monday, with three players inking National Letters of Intent.
Sharis Lachappelle, Kelsey Zamora and Alexis Weaver are the three newest additions to the Cougar soccer program. Two future student-athletes, Lachappelle and Zamora hail from the state of Texas while Weaver is a California native.
Those two states produce the most talent for the Cougars, with 12 players from the Lone Star State and four Californians already on the roster.
The Cougars only lost three departing seniors from the 2010 squad. Many freshman and sophomores gained valuable playing time as they were one of the youngest teams in the nation. Head coach Susan Bush along with assistant coaches Eric Quill and Jenna Huff led the young Cougars to the best record in program history and coach Bush earned Conference USA Coach of the Year honors for her efforts.

| "Lachappelle is a left footed, tall and slender player who can tackle, strike the ball well, and create offensive energy. She is regarded as one of the most talented and versatile players to come out of Texas in 2011. She can virtually play any position on the field and will be an immediate impact for the program. She is a natural leader, competitive, and has unlimited potential. Sharis will likely see time in the center of the field or possibly on the front line." -Susan Bush

| Kelsey Zamora · Forward/Midfielder · Sugar Land, Texas · Ft. Bend Austin HS |

| "Zamora is a spark plug with outstanding pace and drive to run at the opposing team's defense. She is goal scorer who can strike the ball with both feet. Kelsey, whose nickname is Bug, will compete for time on the forward line, likely as a winger. She is intense, motivated, and is always a threat when she receives the ball. Look for Kelsey to score goals in the fall 2011 season." -Susan Bush

| Alexis Weaver · Midfielder · Chino, Calif. · S. Ayala HS | |

| "Weaver is a former teammate of current Cougar student-athlete Jasmine Martinez. Alexis has an incredible burst of speed in her first step and is also a very versatile player. She is a goal scorer and playmaker who can shoot, dominate in the air, and play a one and two touch style of game familiar to Houston. Alexis will bring energy, passion, and the ability to put the ball in the back of the net to our 2011 roster. She has the ability to compete for time anywhere on the field in the fall of 2011." -Susan Bush
