HOUSTON - After playing four consecutive road matches, the Houston Cougar soccer team returns home to play Stephen F. Austin, Friday at 5 p.m. and host Texas Southern, Sunday at 1 p.m.
Houston played two close games over the weekend and emerged 0-1-1 on their road trip. After drawing TCU 2-2 in a double overtime match Friday night, the Cougars fell to Baylor 0-1 on Sunday.
Freshman Nicole Duarte and sophomore Courtney Peacock provided the goals with freshman Sami Sackos dishing out both assists against TCU.
The Cougars hold a +8 goal differential against their opponents this year, having scored 11 goals in five games and only allowing three.
PROMOTIONS
Friday is Fan Appreciation Night with the first 100 fans receiving a free Houston soccer t-shirt. All fans that bring their UTEP football ticket receive a half-price adult ticket.
Sunday is Camper Reunion Day at Robertson Stadium. All 2010 soccer campers that wear their shirt will get into the game for free. All fans who bring their UTEP football ticket will again receive a half-price adult ticket.
The Cougar Soccer Moms are hosting a tailgate located at the pavilions by the entrance gate and invite all fans to stop by and mingle before Sunday's game kicks off.
STEPHEN F. AUSTIN
SFA travels to Houston sporting a 3-3-0 record and has a +2 goal differential over its opponents (10 goals scored and eight goals allowed). The Ladyjacks and Cougars share a common opponent, Louisiana-Lafayette, with both teams earning the win. SFA won 3-1, scoring two goals on penalty kicks in the first half.
Sophomore Kylie Louw leads SFA in goals (3) and points scored (7) while six other Ladyjacks have scored a goal.
SFA earned the win against Houston last year in a 1-0 match. The Cougars hold the edge in the all-time series 4-2 and have outscored the Ladyjacks 10 goals to eight
TEXAS SOUTHERN
Texas Southern enters the weekend holding an 0-3 record. The Tigers and Cougars share two common opponents with TSU having lost against TCU and Sam Houston 0-7 and 0-2, respectively. TSU has yet to score a goal this season and has allowed 17.
This will be the first match between the neighboring schools since 2006. In that match, current volunteer coaches Nikki Echeverria and Sophia Mundy each scored a goal and recorded an assist.
Houston holds a 3-0 all-time record against the Tigers and has outscored them 36-1.
