HOUSTON - The University of Houston soccer team played North Texas to a 0-0 tie this past weekend. This game consisted of the normal 11-on-11 squads, but only 35-minute halves.
The team played with no subs, and a couple of players in new positions. One in particular was freshman Kaci Bush, who got her first real experience at the center back position. Normally a midfielder, Bush, took on the role as the anchor of the defense due to lack of numbers on the team. Also major contributors to the game were the two returning forwards in junior Lauri Byrne and sophomore Jessica Zavala, who had many great shots on goal.
"The team is in great shape," head coach Susan Bush said. "This team is a really good group."
The Cougars have two more games left in their spring season, and look to continue working on getting in shape and working on their technical skills, with the main focus being on scoring techniques.
