Volleyball Set To Host Final Home Matches Of 2010 Season

HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team will close out its home schedule this weekend when they play host to East Carolina and Marshall at the Athletics/Alumni Center.
The Cougars will take on the Pirates at 7 p.m., Friday and then close out the weekend against the Thundering Herd at 1 p.m., Sunday. At the conclusion of the match on Sunday, Houston will honor its two seniors, Amanda Carson and Marluci Toazzi.

The Cougars enter the weekend with a 17-10 overall record and an 11-4 mark in league action. Houston has won its last five matches, including four-straight sweeps to put themselves in sole possession of third place in Conference USA.
East Carolina is 1-25 on the year and 0-14 in league play. UH knocked off the Pirates 3-0 on Oct. 31 to improve to 10-1 in the all-time series. Lucy Charuk led the team with 20 kills, one shy of her career-high, in the first meeting.
Three Pirates have recorded at least 100 kills this season, while Amanda Lutzow leads the team with 178.
Marshall is 9-17 entering the weekend and 3-11 in C-USA. They have lost their last 10 league matches, including a 3-0 defeat against the Cougars on Oct. 29. Houston improved to 3-4 in the all-time series with the win. Charuk once again led Houston with 13 kills and three blocks in the win.
Elizabeth Herman paces the Thundering Herd with 363 kills on a .254 hitting percentage.
UP NEXT
Following the weekend at home, Houston will close out the season at SMU and Tulsa next weekend and then return to Houston for the season finale against Rice on Nov. 27 at Tudor Fieldhouse.
