The Miners grabbed the next three points to pull within five but Houston went on to win the set 25-18.

The two teams battled tough for much of the remainder of the set before Houston was able to pull ahead, 18-14, forcing the UTEP bench to call a timeout. The Miners scored two of the next three points and Houston answered with a timeout of their own. But as they did for much of the match, Houston dictated to match, going on to win 25-20.
