HOUSTON - The University of Houston soccer team heads to Huntsville as the Cougars square off against Sam Houston State at 7 p.m. on Friday at Pritchett Field as part of the team's first two-game weekend of the season.
Houston (0-1-0) enters Friday's contest after a tough 1-0, double-overtime loss to UTSA in the team's season opener. The Cougars outshot the Roadrunners 17-12 in the match, but just could not find the back of the net.
UH owns a perfect 3-0 record against Sam Houston, posting a 3-2 win over the Bearkats in the only contest played in Huntsville.
Sam Houston State also dropped its season opener, falling 2-0 at Rice.
The Cougars will return to Houston on Sunday for a 1 p.m. showdown against Stephen F. Austin at the Carl Lewis International Track Complex.
