HOUSTON - The University of Houston soccer team will continue its spring season Saturday, taking on a squad of former players in the Cougar's annual alumni game, scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. CST on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium.
Prior to the game, the Cougars will play host to an alumni reception in the suites at Hofheinz Pavilon, prior to the UH women's basketball game against UAB at 2 p.m. The soccer alumni will be honored in a halftime ceremony at the game, recognizing the former Cougars' contributions to building the program since its inception in 1998.
"Our players are excited to see and meet everyone coming back," head coach Bill Solberg said. "These players helped put this program on the map and this day is just a small token of our appreciation for their efforts over the years and their continued support of UH athletics."
Following the women's basketball game, the current Cougars will take to the Robertson Stadium field against the alumni squad at 6 p.m.
"Last year the alumni that showed up put on quite a show," Solberg said. "They kept possession, scored some great goals and tested the current squad not to mention they had a great fan club in the stands. We're looking forward to quite a show Saturday night."
