Golf in tie for 13th place at the National Invitation Tournament

TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Houston golf team stood in a tie for 13th place Monday after the first two rounds of the National Invitational Tournament.
The Cougars compiled a team score of 609 through 36 holes, 37 strokes behind host Arizona on the 7,138-yard, par 72 course at Tucson National Golf Course.
The tournament concludes Tuesday morning with the final 18 holes.
Senior Brett Callas, Simon Robinson and John Wine all tied for 44th place at 8-over-par 152. Other Cougar golfers included Kevin Newman (t-54th, 154) and Zach Mowbray (t-73rd, 161).
New Mexico, Conference USA rival TCU, Texas and Minnesota rounded out the top five teams.
Individually, Ricky Barnes of Arizona and TCU's David Schultz were tied atop the leaderboard at 6-under-par 138.
The Cougars return to Arizona when they compete in the Savane/ASU Thunderbird Invitational on April 11-12.
