Houston had to come from behind to win games one and four and hold off a Longhorn rally to claim game three. The teams played for over two hours and the match looked like it might go a full five games when Texas took an 11-10 in game four. The Cougars however rallied behind the blocking tandem of senior hitter Stephanie Heiskell and senior setter Morgan Wallen to reclaim the lead. Sophomore Jane Anne Karasek came off the bench and sparked the UH offense converting on 4-of-6 kill attempts and a pair of service aces.
Texas, 3-8 overall, was paced by junior hitter Katia Lara's 17 kills and 18 digs. Jenny Tanneberger spiked 15 kills and led all players with 22 digs.
Houston will next face Conference USA rival Saint Louis on the road on Monday, October 2. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m.
