Evan Tucker was elevated to Director of Football Equipment Operations in June 2022 after just over a year as an Assistant Director. Tucker joined the University of Houston in February 2021 and has nearly a decade of collegiate football equipment management experience.
As the Director of Football Equipment Operations, Tucker collaborates with the Assistant Athletic Director of Equipment on all aspects of the football program's equipment needs including but not limited to handling the equipment budget, managing inventory, forecasting orders for future student-athletes and staff, preparing for all recruiting events, fitting protective equipment and ensuring all apparel items are sanitized, sorted and distributed to assigned personnel.
While at Houston, Tucker has managed the department's 10 student managers and two full-time interns, directing set-up and tear down of all practices, as well as the operation of practice itself.
Tucker manages all embellishment of apparel for football student-athletes and staff and is in charge of the day-to-day upkeep, inventory and reconditioning of all helmets and shoulder pads.
Before coming to Houston, Tucker spent the 2020 football season at Austin Peay as the Head Football Equipment Manager. Tucker oversaw the fitting, distribution, laundering, maintenance, and purchasing of athletic equipment and apparel for 110 football players & 30 staff members. Tucker also directly supervised five student managers and one full-time intern.
Tucker's first job after college was at Army West Point where he worked with the football team from July 2018 to July 2019 and served as the Interim Head Football Manager during the spring of 2019. Tucker then took his talents to Miami where he oversaw the equipment management of the Hurricane's Olympic Sports.
A 2018 graduate from Penn State, Tucker worked in the Nittany Lions equipment room for four seasons as a student manager and earned a double-major with a Bachelor of Science in Labor and Employment Relations and a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Management.
