- Offensive Graduate Assistant
• Dre Fusilier joined the Houston Cougars coaching staff as an Offensive Graduate Assistant in July 2024 after spending the spring at his alma mater Grambling State where he served as an assistant coach working with the running backs. The 2025 season will be his second with the Cougars.
• Fusilier assists the running backs at Houston, aiding Assistant Coach Jordy Jospeh with a deep running back room.
• During 2024, Houston's youthful running backs room rushed for 201 more yards than a season prior. Three of Houston's top four backs were freshmen including redshirt freshman Re'Shaun Sanford II who paced the Cougars with 444 rushing yards and was one of five FBS freshmen with 400+ rushing yards and 150+ receiving yards on the season.
• Houston and Louisville were the only two programs nationally to have three freshman running backs produce 150+ all-purpose yards during 2024. J'Marion Burnette's 116 rushing yards after contact led all Big 12 true freshmen backs. DJ Butler's 76.8 PFF run grade was second among Big 12 true freshmen backs (min. 15 rushes) and his 4.88 yards after contact per attempt ranked third among Power Four true freshman backs (min. 15 rushes).
• Meanwhile, junior Stacy Sneed finished third on the team 308 rushing yards. Sneed rushed for 5.0+ yards per carry for a third straight season, becoming the first UH back with 5.0+ yards/carry (min. 45 carries) in three straight years since Kenneth Farrow in four straight (2012-15).
• While at Grambling, Fusilier coached and developed the running backs and assisted with recruiting, special teams.
• Prior to time at his alma mater he served as the running backs coach, recruiting coordinator and video coordinator at Southern in Baton Rouge, La. for two seasons.
• Kendric Rhymes earned 2023 Bayou Classic MVP honors after a 103-yard rushing performance where the sophomore running back found the endzone twice. Rhymes posted three 100-yard rushing performances under Fusilier’s tutelage in 2023.
• While at Southern, Fusilier organized and executed strategic recruiting plans, oversee the video staff that filmed all practices and games while coaching the running backs during the Jaguars’ 2022 SWAC West Championship season that earned a spot in the SWAC Championship game.
• The 2022 Jaguars ranked second in the SWAC in total yards, scoring offense and rushing yards.
• Fusilier got his coaching start at his alma mater in 2018 as an Offensive and Special Teams Graduate Assistant at Grambling State before being elevated to the Running Backs / Video Coordinator in 2019 – a position he held for three seasons.
• Keilon Elder earned Bayou Classic MVP honors in the 2019 rendition of the rivalry game in the Super Dome in New Orleans after rushing for 112 yards and a touchdown.
• Fusilier was a two-time captain at Grambling State during the 2016-17 seasons.
• A two-time graduate from Grambling State, Fusilier earned a Master’s of Sports Administration in 2019 and a Bachelor of Science in economics in 2017.
