Senior collects first conference postseason honor of career
HOUSTON – University of Houston senior Men's Golfer Hudson Weibel was named to the All-Big 12 Conference Second Team, the league announced Monday afternoon.Weibel has been the Cougars' leading performer throughout the 2025-26 season, posting a 70.57 scoring average, 22 rounds of par or lower and 10 rounds in the 60s.
He opened the season with three straight rounds in the 60s at the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant to lead the Cougars to the team championship. Weibel drained a birdie on the 17th hole of the Final Round to move into a tie for the lead and holed out an eagle from 123 yards to defeat Louisiana's Malan Potgieter on the second hole of a playoff for the first title of his collegiate career.
Weibel closed the Trinity Forest Invitational Trinity Forest Golf Club in his hometown of Dallas with a career-low 64 to force a playoff against Rice's Lukas Boandl and sank a 40-foot birdie on the second hole of a playoff to capture the individual championship for that tournament.
Weibel posted scores of 68-67 in the final two rounds of the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo Texas on February 16-17 and didn't need extra holes on the way to his third medalist honor of the season.
With that performance, he became the first Cougar to win 3+ tournaments in a season since Roman Robledo during the 2013-14 season.
Earlier this year, he was recognized as the Big 12 Golfer of the Month for October 2025 and was named the league's Golf of the Week on February 19, 2026.
Weibel became the 23rd All-Conference selection under Mike Booker Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke during his 17-year career.
