Cougars face #12 Arizona State on Friday and #73 Arizona on Sunday
TEMPE, Ariz. — The #29 University of Houston Tennis team continues Big 12 Conference action in the desert as it faces #12 Arizona on Friday and #73 Arizona on Sunday.
The Cougars (11-0, 2-0 Big 12) face the Sun Devils (9-3, 1-1 Big 12) at 6 p.m. CT at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz. Houston and Arizona (7-7, 0-2 Big 12) meet at noon CT from the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.

LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars opened Big 12 play with wins over #35 Utah, 4-3, and #29 BYU, 4-0 on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

Houston cruised to a doubles point victory against Utah only dropping two games on the two finishing courts.
Â
Senior Sophie Schouten and junior Petja Drame added to the lead before the Utes stormed back to take the next three singles points to tie the match at three. After dropping the first set and edging out Utah's Emmie Moore in set two, senior Chems Doha Zeghlouli clinched the winning point to help the Cougars keep their undefeated streak alive.

After a shutout from Schouten and Zeghlouli on doubles court one against BYU, both the remaining courts needed the tiebreaker to decide a winner. Drame and junior partner Elizaveta Morozova were first to the finish as they clinched the doubles point with a 7-6(2) win on court three.

Singles action was much less dramatic as Schouten, Drame and Zeghlouli completed the sweep for Houston.

Houston enters its second season under the direction of Head Coach Katarina Adamovic and returns five starters from a season ago.

The Cougars are off to their best start since 1990 at 11-0, swept its first eight opponents for the first time in program history and is ranked #29 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association team poll.
