PREVIEW: In-State Showdown at Schroeder Park This Weekend

Cougars host in-state rival Baylor for three-game Big 12 Conference series
HOUSTON – Houston Baseball wraps up a four-game homestand with three tilts against Baylor this weekend at Don Sanders Field at Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park. The series is presented by the Texas Department of Emergency Management.
The series against Baylor will wrap up Houston's Texas Showdown week. Come out to Schroeder Park to hear all your favorite Texas Tunes and Country Hits all weekend long with Cougar Cowboy hats being raffled off at the Marketing Table at all three games.
Sunday will be Family Day at the ballpark. Inflatables and yard games will be located on the first base berm up until the sixth inning and lines for Kids Run the Bases and Postgame autographs will start near section 108 in the eighth inning.

SCHROEDER PARK BAG POLICY
To provide a safer environment for the public and to significantly expedite fan entry into all of Houston Athletics competition sites, Houston Athletics has implemented the clear bag policy it implements at TDECU Stadium and Fertitta Center at the remainder of its facilities (Schroeder Park, Cougar Softball Stadium and Carl Lewis International Complex [soccer and track and field] and the Athletics Alumni Center/Yeoman Fieldhouse).
The following items are allowed inside all ticketed UH Athletics events:
Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the doors by arena personnel.
Items such as backpacks, purses and diaper bags are not permitted, and fans are strongly encouraged to not bring any bags to Houston Athletics facilities.

- Houston is coming off a thrilling 9-7 comeback win over #2 Texas on Tuesday. The Cougars, down 7-0 in the fifth, rallied with nine unanswered runs to claim its first Top 2 win since defeating #2 Rice on May 1, 2009.
- Three former Cougars were named to MLB Opening Day rosters: John King (Miami), Jared Triolo (Pittsburgh) and Connor Wong (Boston).
- Despite so far playing just 44 percent of last year's total games, Houston's offense is well ahead of pace to top last year's output. The team has already posted 50 doubles, nearly 60 percent of last year's 87. Houston has also hit 29 homers, 57 percent of last year's 51.

- Richie Roman, Paul Schmitz and Alex Solis were named to the 2026 Pitcher of the Year watchlist.
- The Cougars face a loaded schedule in 2026, battling five teams that finished 2025 in the Top 25 of RPI. The team will play 29 of its 55 games against teams that finished in the Top 50 of the NCAA's RPI and 25 games against teams that made the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
