Cougars punch out 12 in loss to Bears on Friday

HOUSTON – In the opening game of a weekend series against Baylor, Houston Baseball fell 6-2 at Schroeder Park on Friday night.

Junior right-hander Connor Udland started his fourth game and kept Houston in the game early with 4.1 innings of work. Udland allowed two earned runs while striking out three.

Out of the bullpen, senior Tyler Bryan flashed positive moments on the mound, striking out five batters across 2.1 innings. The right-hander worked through multiple high-leverage situations as Baylor added to its lead in the middle innings.

Houston (13-12, 1-6 Big 12) scored on a base hit from freshman Blake Fields, and the sixth homer of the season by sophomore Jackson LaLima.

On the mound, senior Harrison Boushele provided a strong relief outing, tossing 2.1 hitless shutout innings while striking out four.

Baylor (14-11, 3-4 Big 12) scored a trio of runs in the sixth and received a two-homer day from first baseman Tyce Armstrong.
