OKLAHOMA CITY – The #5/5 University of Houston Men's Basketball program continues its run at the NCAA Tournament as it meets (10) Texas A&M during the South Region Second Round inside Paycom Center at 5:10 p.m., Saturday.
The second-seeded Cougars earned their place in the Second Round with a 78-47 win over (15) Idaho in the First Round on Thursday night. Freshman and All-American point guard Kinsgston Flemings led the way with 18 points and 8-of-12 shooting and added six rebounds and a game-high four assists.
Flemings was one of five Cougars to reach double-digit points against the Vandals. Senior guard Emanuel Sharp posted 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting with three 3-pointers, and junior forward Joseph Tugler posted 13 points with four rebounds. Senior point guard Milos Uzan added 12 points with three rebounds and three assists, and sophomore guard Mercy Miller finished with 10 points and two 3-pointers.
With his assists total, Flemings now has a team-leading 184 assists this season. The San Antonio, Texas, native now holds the freshman single-season assists record and has already scored the most points by a Cougar freshman in a season.
Houston recorded its eighth straight NCAA Tournament First-Round victory under Head Coach Kelvin Sampson. The Cougars improved to 46-31 in 27 NCAA Tournament appearances during the program's history.
