Cougars host Sun Devils at 5:30 p.m., Sunday, in first meeting in Houston since 1979-80 season
HOUSTON – Winners of their last 10 games overall and 14 straight home games, the #7/7 University of Houston Men's Basketball program closes its homestand when it plays host to Big 12 Conference-rival Arizona State at 5:30 p.m., Sunday, inside Fertitta Center in a game presented by Gallery Furniture.
Houston (16-1, 4-0 Big 12) enters this weekend's game following a 77-48 win over West Virginia inside Fertitta Center on Tuesday night. Senior point guard Milos Uzan drained five 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 17 points and added three assists with a pair of rebounds.
Senior guard Emanuel Sharp added 13 points with three treys of his own and moved into 19th in Houston career history with 1,400 points. The Tampa, Fla., native needs only three more 3-point field goals to move past guard Robert McKiver (261, 2006-08) for second in school history.
Freshman center/forward Chris Cenac Jr. grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for his team-leading seventh double-digit performance of the season. The New Orleans native leads the Cougars and ranks 13th in the Big 12 with 7.6 rebounds per game.
With 15.4 points and 5.2 assists per game and a 3.07 assist-turnover ratio, freshman point guard Kingston Flemings was named to a pair of midseason watch lists by the United States Basketball Writers Association earlier this week.
The San Antonio, Texas, native earned a place on the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List, presented annually to the nation's top college player, as well as the Wayman Tisdale Award, given to the nation's most outstanding freshman.
