PREVIEW: Swimming & Diving Host Big 12 East Showdown

Cougars will host TCU, Iowa State, West Virginia and Cincinnati
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team is back in action this weekend as they host the Big 12 East Showdown at CRWC Natatorium. The two-day meet will see teams from across the Big 12 compete including TCU, Iowa State, West Virginia and Cincinnati.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars fought hard against the Kansas Jayhawks, collecting seven first-place finishes and 26 podiums but ultimately fell short with a final score of 153-147 in Lawrance.
Sophomore Mariana Cote secured top marks in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:62.02.
Junior Elizabeth Jimenez (54.98), sophomore Alexia Duncan (55.06) and sophomore Regina Torres (55.76) touched the wall in the top three spots in the 100-yard backstroke. Jimenez also secured the top spot in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.37.
Junior Evelyn Entrekin scored a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.10.
Seniors Liya Goupil and Noor El Gendy touched the wall the fastest in the 100-yard freestyle (50.77) and 200-yard butterfly (1:59.37), respectively.
NCAA CUTS
Five Houston student-athletes have collected NCAA Cuts across five events.
1-meter: Michelle McLeod, Caroline Roelen, Maisy Woloszyn
3-meter: Michelle McLeod, Caroline Roelen

100-yard breaststroke: Evelyn Entrekin
