Cougars compete in NCAA Regional for fifth straight season
URBANA, Ill. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program begins the postseason when it tees off at the NCAA Urbana Regional at Atkins Golf Club on Monday morning.
Ranked #38 nationally, the Cougars will compete as the No. 7 seed on the 7,533-yard, par-71 course. This marks the fifth straight season in which Houston will play as a team at an NCAA Regional.
It also marks the 11th NCAA Regional in which the Cougars will compete under Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, who is in his 16th season at Houston.
The top five teams and top individual not on a qualifying team at each NCAA Regional advance to the NCAA Championships set for Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., on May 24-29.
NCAA Regional play will be held at six sites across the nation. Three regional sites will have 13 teams and 10 individuals each with the remaining three hosting 14 teams and five individuals each.
In addition to the NCAA Urbana Regional, other postseason sites include Poplar Grove Golf Course (Amherst, Va.; hosted by Virginia); Gold Mountain Golf Club (Bremerton, Wash., hosted by Washington); Montreux Golf and Country Club (Reno, Nev.; hosted by Nevada); Seminole Legacy Club (Tallahassee, Fla.; hosted by Florida State) and Auburn University Club (Auburn, Ala.; hosted by Auburn).

ABOUT the COUGARS
Houston will be represented by senior Wolfgang Glawe, junior Hudson Weibel, senior Jacob Borow, sophomore Chi Chun Chen and senior Laurenz Schiergen. Junior Bryant Hiskey II also will be available as a reserve.
The Cougars enter the NCAA postseason after finishing fourth at the Big 12 Conference Championships at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., on April 22-24.
In 2024-25, Houston has posted five Top-Five team finishes and won the team championship at the All-American Intercollegiate with a score of 20-under 844 at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas, on March 17-18. It was the program's 19th tournament crown under Dismuke.
Tabbed as the No. 8 seed at the Big 12 Championships, the Cougars posted a 72-hole score of 1,149. Glawe tied for third at even-par 280 to earn All-Tournament Team honors while sophomore Chi Chun Chen joined him among the Top-20 leaders with a score of 288 to tie for 17th.
This season, Glawe leads the Cougars with a 71.18 scoring average and nine rounds in the 60s, including a school-record-tying 63 in the First Round at the White Sands WVU Invitational in the Bahamas on Oct. 25, 2024.
Borow is a close second with a 71.24 average while Chen tied second at the All-American Intercollegiate on March 17-18.

Hunter Thomson (Michigan), Jack Schoenberger (Kentucky), Paul Beauvy (Iowa State), Patton Samuels (Austin Peay), Anthony Delisanti (Valparaiso), Clay Merchant (Indiana), Ryan Ford (Cincinnati), Ben Cors (Dayton), Titus Boswell (IU Indianapolis) and Trey Wall (Murray State) will compete as individuals.

For Monday's First Round, Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from Marquette and Troy beginning off the No. 1 tee at 8:55 a.m.
Schiergen begins the tournament at 8:55 a.m., Monday, with Chen (9:06 a.m.), Borow (9:17 a.m.), Weibel (9:28 a.m.) and Glawe (8:18 a.m.) following.

With this season's selection, Houston Men's Golf will compete as a team in 25 NCAA Regionals during the program's rich history with nine Top-Five team finishes.
Houston captured the team championship at the 1998 NCAA Central Regional at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, Texas while four Cougars – Michael Perras, 2016 NCAA Franklin Regional; Blair Hamilton, 2016 NCAA Lubbock Regional; Brett Callas, 2003 NCAA Central Regional; and Dean Larsson, 1994 NCAA Central Regional – earned medalist honors at their respective events.
A year ago, the Cougars finished sixth at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional at University Club, falling only three strokes shy of advancing to the NCAA Championships. All-American and Big 12 Player of the. Year Santiago De La Fuente finished 14th with a score of even-par 216 to lead Houston.
