Tennis Falls to #40 TCU in Big 12 Home Opener

Cougars continue homestand against #15 Baylor at 1 p.m., Sunday
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Tennis team dropped its Big 12 Conference home opener to #40 TCU, 4-0, on Friday afternoon at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
In a tightly contested doubles contest, the Cougars (3-6, 0-3 Big 12) took the opening point on all three courts. On court one, #23 Jade Otway and Isabel Pascual defeated fifth-year Santa Strombacha and sophomore Elizaveta Morozova, 6-2.
TCU (8-3, 3-0 Big 12) clinched the doubles point when Helena Normont and Yu-Chin Tsai outlasted juniors Gabriela Cortes and Sophie Schouten, 6-4.
The Horned Frogs doubled their lead as Maya Drozd defeated Cortes on court six, 6-3, 6-2.
After falling behind early, sophomore Iva Sepa made things interesting as she fell, 6-3, 6-4, to Raquel Caballero.
Tomi Main clinched the match on court five when she defeated Schouten, 6-3, 6-3.
