Vaqueros Steal Midweek

HOUSTON – Houston Baseball team fell 9-5 to UTRGV on Tuesday night at Don Sanders Field at Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park.

Houston (7-4) led 5-3 entering the ninth inning but three extra-base hits helped UTRGV (8-2) score six runs in the frame to stifle left-handed pitcher Antoine Jean brilliant relief outing.

Jean worked 4.2 scoreless innings in relief while striking out seven for the second-consecutive outing.

First baseman Carsten Sabathia III extended his hitting streak to a career-long six games when he singled in a pair in the first inning.

Designated hitter Kenneth Jimenez reached base his first three plate appearances, reaching base in 11 consecutive plate appearances dating back to Friday night at UT Arlington. The streak ended in the eighth inning on Tuesday.

Houston stays in the city and heads to Rice's Reckling Park for the first game of the Silver Glove Series on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. with the game streamed on ESPN+.
