Cox, Solis Lead Houston in Midweek Win

Cox drives in career-best four runs, Solis strikes out career-high eight
On the mound, Solis (1-0) fired off his best collegiate outing working 6.0 innings of one run, three hit work while striking out a career-high eight hitters. The Weslaco, Texas, native struck out the side in the second inning after allowing the leadoff hitters to get into scoring position.
Cox put together his first three-hit game of the year with RBI knocks in the third, sixth and eighth innings. The Valley Glen, Calif., native finished the day 3 for 5 with a double and four RBI.
Houston (14-10) never trailed for the second consecutive game after taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Cougars then scored a run in the third, two in the fourth, sixth and eighth to finish the night.
The bullpen arms of senior Harrison Boushele, freshman Chris Perez and senior Andres Perez did not allow a run and combined for three strikeouts.
