Cougars set to host five-straight home games
HOUSTON – The Houston Baseball team returns to the friendly confines of Schroeder Park to begin a five-game homestand against Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.

- Cougar Cupboard game day canned food drive. Support Cougar Cupboard with canned goods and toiletry items to be given to UH Students in need.
- Every Sunday home game this season is Family Day. Kids get in free when wearing their youth baseball jersey, can run the bases postgame and get autographs from the players. There will also be an inflatable for kids to play in on Sundays.Â
- Military Appreciation Day – special discounted tickets for active, reserve and former military members with their Military ID.
THE MATCHUP
- This is the first matchup since 2019 and just the third matchup during the Todd Whitting era.
- This is just the third meeting in the last 16 years.
- Houston Baseball broadcast analyst Kyle Rogers is an SFA baseball alum and a University of Houston Athletics Communications department alum.
QUICK HITTERS
- Houston won its first Big 12 Conference game and series of 2025 at UCF Friday-Sunday with front- and endcap wins of 7-5 and 7-4 respectfully. The series win on the road marked Houston's first Big 12 road series win in program history.
- Sophomore Richie Roman, who ranks fourth nationally with six saves, moved to the weekend starter role for his third start of the year and produced arguably his best start of his career spinning a career-high 6.0 inning quality start with a career-best seven strikeouts.
- Sophomore Tre Broussard's wheels are turning, successfully stealing 15 bases in a row this season. The Houston, native is sixth all-time in school history for consecutive stolen bases and has stolen the seventh-most bases in Division-I this season.
- Senior Antoine Jean had one of the best pitching performances of the weekend according to D1Baseball.com with 5.0 scoreless relief innings with 11 strikeouts at UCF on Friday. The 11 strikeouts in 5.0 innings moved Jean to fourth nationally in strikeouts-per-nine innings. Jean's 5.33 hits allowed per nine ranks 32nd nationally and second in the Big 12.
- Houston scored 10+ runs in five consecutive games scoring 10+ for the first time since 1999 scoring 10+ in games at Rice (3/5), vs Grambling (3/7-9) and at Sam Houston (3/12).
- Houston did not lose back-to-back games in the first 15 games of the season – the first time since 2013 when Houston did not lose back-to-back games until its 30th game of the year. During that span Houston scored 10+ runs six times and in four consecutive games for the first time since 2002.
- Sophomore Xavier Perez drove in the most RBI in a game since Bobby Hollas' nine RBI in 1979 when he drove in eight Cougars at Rice on March 5. The utility man scorched four hits, three doubles and a home run while driving in three runs on two swings of the bat. The eight RBI is fourth-most by any player in Division-I this season.
- Houston won its first four series to open the season marking the first time since 2019 the Cougars have opened the season with three series wins against non-conference teams. Houston has won the first three series of the season in back-to-back seasons after opening 2024 with series wins against Binghamton, St. John's and Baylor.
- Sophomore Richie Roman was named the #67 sophomore nationally by Perfect Game and the #5 sophomore in the Big 12 by D1Baseball.com and has started 2025 with six saves – ranking fourth nationally.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Cougars won their first Big 12 series of the season and first-ever Big 12 road series with Friday and Sunday wins at UCF.
- Jean struck out 11 in 5.0 relief innings on Friday and junior Chris Scinta pitched 5.0 hitless innings in relief Friday and Sunday for two wins.
