Cougars continue road action at Colorado at 3 p.m. CT, Sunday
LUBBOCK, Texas – The University of Houston Tennis team fell, 4-0, to #14 Texas Tech on Friday afternoon at the McLeod Tennis Center.
After having to forfeit court three in doubles, the Cougars (3-10, 0-7 Big 12) took the opening two points on the other two courts before Texas Tech (13-2, 6-1 Big 12) proved their ranking as #4 Avelina Sayfedinova and Mariia Hlahola defeated junior duo Sophie Shouten and Gabriela Cortes, 6-3.
The Red Raiders doubled their lead on court three and Hlahola defeated sophomore Heta Nuutinen, 6-4, 6-0.
Texas Tech added its third point when sophomore Iva Sepa fell to Kate Dmitrichenko on court two, 6-2, 6-1.
The match was clinched on court five when Hailey Murphy defeated Sophie Schouten, 6-2, 6-4.
