
Dove Breaks School Record, Cougars Wrap Weekend Action

Graduate thrower KeAyla Dove records third-straight win in the weight throw
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas and BLACKSBURG, Va. – Graduate thrower KeAyla Dove elevated her school record in the women's shot put at the Charlie Thomas Invitational while sophomore Antrea Mita won the men's high jump at the Doc Hale Invitational to wrap up weekend action for the University of Houston Track & Field program.
Houston secured three victories, one runner-up finish, two third-place finishes, and posted 13 personal bests across the two-day meet weekend.
Senior Brice Chabot opened the weekend for the Cougars with a third-place finish in the men's 200m with a time of 21.04 at the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Friday.
On Saturday, Dove dominated the women's shot put to secure her third victory this season with a stellar throw of 18.16m (59-7). Her performance not only set a new school and facility record but moved her to sixth in the nation and is now tied for 14th in the world.
Senior sprinter John Adesola blazed through the men's 60-meter dash, clocking a personal-best time of 6.65. His impressive performance now ties him for eighth on Houston's all-time indoor performance list.
Freshman pole vaulter Evina Panagiotou delivered a standout performance, clearing a personal-best 4.15m (13-7.25) to secure third place in the women's pole vault. The freshman's impressive mark moved her into a tie for second on Houston's all-time indoor performance list.
The women's 4x400-meter competed in the invite event with a third-place finish at 3:44.57.
The Cougars' men's high jump squad had a successful outing at the Doc Hale Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., with Mita claiming the victory with a 2.11m (6-11) clearance. Senior My'Kell Beck matched the height to secure second place, setting a new indoor personal record in the process.
UP NEXT
The Cougars host their final indoor meet of the season with the Howie Ryan Invitational on Friday. Field events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., followed by running events at 1:30 p.m.
