PREVIEW: Track & Field Hosts Howie Ryan Invitational on Friday

Cougars prep for final indoor home meet of the season
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track and Field program returns home on Friday as it hosts the Howie Ryan Invitational inside Yeoman Fieldhouse. Field events are scheduled at 11:30 a.m. followed by running events at 1:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend at the Charlie Thomas Invitational, graduate KeAyla Dove dominated the women's shot put to secure her third victory this season with a stellar throw of 18.16m (59-7). Her performance set a new school and facility record. This mark also moved her to sixth in the nation and she is now tied for 14th in the world.

Senior Brice Chabot opened the weekend for the Cougars with a third-place finish in the men's 200m with a time of 21.04 on Friday.

Senior sprinter John Adesola blazed through the men's 60-meter dash, clocking a personal-best time of 6.65. His impressive performance now ties him for eighth on Houston's all-time indoor performance list.

Freshman pole vaulter Evina Panagiotou delivered a standout performance, clearing a personal-best 4.15m (13-7.25) to secure third place in the women's pole vault. This mark moved her into a tie for second on Houston's all-time indoor performance list.

The women's 4x400-meter competed in the invite event with a third-place finish at 3:44.57.

The Cougars' men's high jump squad had a successful outing at the Doc Hale Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., with sophomore Antrea Mita's victory with a 2.11m (6-11) clearance. Senior My'Kelly Beckmatched the height to secure second place, setting a new indoor personal record in the process.
