Cougars host in-state rivals for senior day on Saturday

HOUSTON – Houston Volleyball closes out its season by hosting #20 TCU for a 1 p.m., Saturday, tilt at Fertitta Center. The Cougars will honor a seven-member senior class in a ceremony postgame.

Fans are encouraged to stay after the match as Houston will recognize Kellen Morin, Barakat Rahmon, Brenya Reid, Lottie Scully, Avery Shimaitis, Alana Torres-Rivera and Ella Wendel in its Senior Day presentation.

TCU enters the match with a 19-10 record, including a 9-8 mark in Big 12 Conference play. The Horned Frogs dropped its last match in five sets to #22 Baylor on Wednesday after a five-set win against Texas Tech on Nov. 22.
Houston is coming off a thrilling five-set victory in its road finale, downing Texas Tech to sweep the season series against the Red Raiders. The Cougars tied its single-match blocks record with 20.0 in the game, including 12 from redshirt senior Barakat Rahmon.
The Cougars boast a good track record against teams in their new conference. Among the current Big 12 landscape, Houston holds a 138-116 record against league foes.
Head Coach David Rehr has the third most wins of any Houston Volleyball coach with 124 and was the fastest Cougar coach to both the 50- and 100-win thresholds in the NCAA era.
Houston faces a gauntlet of a schedule in 2025, with almost half of the current AVCA Top 25 on the team's calendar. In all, the Cougars have 11 matches against currently ranked teams on their schedule.
Fans have taken notice of Houston, with the Cougars consistently attracting large crowds to Fertitta Center. The team has drawn seven 1,000+ crowds this season with one home matches remaining on the calendar.
Houston's blocking effort, which averages 2.61 blocks per match, currently ranks 25^th in the nation and second in the Big 12. Redshirt senior Barakat Rahmon and Kellen Morin both rank in the top six in the conference with 1.25 blocks per set each.
