Cougars in search of second Big 12 win at 2 p.m.
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program seeks to add to the win column as it hosts Kansas at 2 p.m., Saturday inside Fertitta Center for its Alumni Day and BLACKOUT game.
All fans are encouraged to wear black as part of the Cougars' blackout on Saturday. Houston welcomes over 25 former women's basketball student-athletes to Fertitta Center and will be recognized during the game for their accomplishments during their time with the Cougars.

THE GAME
- Houston and Kansas meet for the eighth time in program history on Saturday for its Blackout/Alumni game.
- The Cougars and Jayhawks meet for the first time inside Fertitta Center and the first time since Dec. 22, 2009, in Houston.
- Kansas leads the all-time series, 7-0.
- Saturday marks the lone regular-season meeting between Houston and Kansas during the 2024-25 season.
- In its most recent meeting, Kansas defeated Houston inside Allen Fieldhouse, 69-52 (Feb. 8, 2024).
- Houston celebrates Alumni Day as it welcomes over 25 former WBB student-athletes to Fertitta Center.
- Despite Laila Blair breaking the program's all-time 3-pointers record, Houston fell to Texas Tech, 62-44, on Wednesday.
- With 24.3 seconds left in the game, Blair knocked down the 227th 3-pointer of her career, passing Brittney Scott (2007-11) to break the program's 3-point record. Blair led Houston with 15 points, draining a pair of outside shots to cement her name at the top of the record book.
- Eylia Love posted 11 points in the loss against the Lady Raiders.
- The Cougars return six players from the 2023-24 roster: Kierra Merchant, Gigi Cooke, Avalon Miller, Maliyah Johnson, Peyton McFarland and All-Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention, Laila Blair.
- Houston welcomes five transfers this season including Leilani Augmon (Troy), Summer Bostock (Maryland), Ashley Chevalier (Texas Tech), Eylia Love (Louisville) and Kateri Poole (LSU).
- Blair is now Houston's record holder for 3-pointers made with 227 career 3-pointers.
- Blair (3,951 minutes) needs 69 minutes for the most minutes played in program history.
- On Jan. 11, Blair moved up to third on Houston's all-time scoring list. She has 1,803 points and is 155 points away from moving up to second and surpassing Sharion Higgins with 1,957 points.
- Guard Leilani Augmon will be sidelined for 2-3 weeks after suffering a broken nose against Baylor (Jan. 17) leaving Houston with eight available players.
- Avalon Miller (Achilles), Maliyah Johnson (ACL) and Kateri Poole (ACL) are out for the season leaving Houston with nine available players.
