QUICK HITS
- Houston is 2-3 in its five season openers under Head Coach David Rehr, including a 3-1 win against No. 22 USC in last year's opener in Fertitta Center. The team also holds a 3-2 record in road openers under Rehr. This is the fourth time Houston has started its season away from Fertitta Center under Rehr.
- The Cougars return four starters from its 2023 team, including three-time All-American libero Kate Georgiades as well as Katie Corelli, Kellen Morin and Annie Cooke.
- Rehr signed an impressive incoming class for this season that features three freshmen (middle blocker Addisyn Pohl, libero Coley Shiflet and outside hitter Lily Barron) and six transfers (outside hitters Angela Grieve, Avery Shimaitis and Julianna Dalton, middle blocker Aidan Conner and setters Paige Bernstein and Rebecca Rocassin).
- Houston is coming off a 19-10 season in 2023, including an 11-7 record in Big 12 Conference play that saw the team finish in fourth in its inaugural season in the league. The Cougars made the tournament for the second straight season, reaching the second round before a five-set loss to one-seed Stanford.
- After being ranked in every AVCA poll for the first time in program history last season, the Cougars start 2024 receiving votes in the coaches' poll.
- Houston was picked to finish eighth in the Big 12 this season by the league's coaches. Georgiades was a unanimous selection to the preseason All-Big 12 team.
- Omaha finished last season with a 15-14 record, including a 12-4 mark in Summit League play, and made the NCAA Tournament.
- Washington State concluded the 2023 season with a 26-8 record (14-6 Pac-12). The team went on to reach the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament.
