Cougars offer first look at 2024 squad at preseason dinner
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Volleyball program will host its inaugural First Serve Dinner on Friday, Aug. 16 prior to the start of the 2024 season. The reception starts at 6:30 p.m. while dinner is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Cougar Club in TDECU Stadium.
Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the Point Houston Club which assists the program with financial needs beyond its operating budget. Current items on the team's wish list include a foreign tour, facility additions and travel assistance.
Fans can attend by registering here. Individual tickets are $200 while two sponsorship ticket levels are also available. The Directors Sponsorship ($5,000) level includes a table reservation for the dinner (eight tickets plus two Houston Volleyball players), platinum membership in the Point Houston Club, an invitation to the Red vs. White scrimmage and an opportunity to be guest coach for a game. The Head Coach Table Sponsorship ($10,000) includes a table reservation for the dinner (eight tickets plus two Houston Volleyball players), platinum membership in the Point Houston Club, an invitation to the Red vs. White Scrimmage, exclusive access during the exhibition match against Rice and dinner for two with Head Coach David Rehr.
Houston Volleyball begins its 2024 campaign on Aug. 30 at the Omaha Invite, taking on Omaha before a battle with Washington State on Aug. 31. The Cougars' home schedule begins with the Flo Hyman Classic featuring tilts against Louisiana (Sept. 5) and Northwestern State (Sept. 7). Houston's Big 12 Conference home slate kicks off against I-45 rival TCU on Oct. 2.
The Cougars return four starters, including three-time All-American Kate Georgiades, from their 2023 squad which reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. Joining Georgiades are Annie Cooke, a four-year starter, Kellen Morin, who broke Houston's single-season hitting percentage record in 2023, and Katie Corelli, who made an impact on the right side in her first season with the Cougars last year. Rehr also brought in eight newcomers (three freshmen, five transfers) to solidify his 2024 roster.
