Saturday’s game moved forward due to expected inclement weather
WACO, Texas – The University of Houston Softball team fell in both games of a doubleheader to rv/rv Baylor at Getterman Stadium on Friday.
The Bears (30-19, 13-13 Big 12) collected the win in game one, 6-0, before holding the momentum for a 7-1 victory in game two. Houston moved to 25-28 on the season with a 4-22 mark in Big 12 play.
GAME ONE – Baylor 6, Houston 0
Graduate Shelby Smith (10-13) suffered the loss in game one, allowing three runs (two earned) in two-thirds of an inning in the circle for Houston (25-27, 4-21 Big 12). Aliyah Binford (10-10) received the shutout victory in the circle, spinning seven innings and allowing one hit while striking out seven and improving Baylor to 29-19 (12-13 Big 12) on the year.

● Graduate Bree Cantu extended her reached-base streak to a season-long ten games.
● Both junior Lair Beautae and graduate Jazmyn Rollin have reached base in six consecutive games.
Key Innings
1st | With runners on the corners, a single to center from Baylor's Ana Watson gave the Bears an early lead. Baylor would add another two runs in the inning as Aliyah Binford doubled to clear the bases, plating another two Bears and making the score 3-0 after one.
3rd | Shaylon Govan added another run to Baylor's lead in the third, sending a 1-0 pitch over the left-center field fence for a home run.
6th | The Bears capped the scoring with another two runs in the sixth. A hit-by-pitch and double put a pair of runners in scoring position with no one out and a ground out pushed the first run of the frame across. Baylor added another run on a sacrifice fly, but Houston ended the inning on the same play, doubling off the runner at first attempting to return to the base.
GAME TWO – Baylor 7, Houston 1
Houston (25-28, 4-22 Big 12) freshman Gigi Solis (1-2) suffered the loss in the latter half of the doubleheader, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out two. RyLee Crandall (14-7) tossed a complete game in the circle for Baylor (30-19, 13-13 Big 12).

1st | Baylor again took an early edge in the second game of the doubleheader. With two on, a deep single to right allowed Emily Hott to score. Watson hit a bases-clearing double in the next at bat, giving the Bears another 3-0 lead after an inning of play.
4th | After Baylor added a run in both the third and fourth innings to take a 5-0 lead, Houston answered in the bottom of the frame as Rollin hit her 11th home run of the season, a solo shot to left center.
The Bears quickly pushed their lead back to five runs in the home half of the inning. After Baylor loaded the bases with a single, error and walk, Binford slipped a single into left field to drive home a run.
6th | Baylor capped the scoring with its seventh run of the game in the sixth. After putting two on with a hit-by-pitch and single, Baylor sealed a 7-1 victory with a single through the left side.
UP NEXT
Expected inclement weather continues to affect the series. Tomorrow's regular-season finale, originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m., has now been moved up to 2 p.m.
