Cougars Drop Series Finale to #2/#2 Oklahoma

Houston falls in the closing game of the weekend
NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Houston Softball team lost in the final game of the series to #2/#2 Oklahoma, 5-0, at Love's Field on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Tamya Waiters (4-4) received the decision while Cougars moved to 23-23 overall with a 3-18 record in Big 12 play. Kierston Deal improved to 10-1 on the year for Oklahoma (42-4, 18-3 Big 12) after tossing a complete-game shutout in the circle.

● Graduate Bree Cantu picked up her 34th walk of the season, tying her with Laurie Wagner (2006) for ninth on Houston's single-season list.

1st | Oklahoma snagged an early edge in the series finale. A double and walk put two runners on for the Sooners and Alyssa Brito used a triple to drive both runs home, clinching a 2-0 lead for Oklahoma after one.
2nd | The Sooners added another pair of runs in the second. With a pair of runners on base, Oklahoma capitalized on an error on a fly ball to left field to score both Tiare Jennings and Ella Parker.
5th | Oklahoma added an additional insurance run in the fifth. Parker used her second double of the game to drive in Rylie Boone, capping the scoring and sealing a 5-0 win for the Sooners.

Houston continues a four-game road swing with a trip to College Station, Texas, on Tuesday for a midweek tilt against #11/#12 Texas A&M. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
